What? No Zumba?

As a business owner I get wonderful people making suggestions that I would do so well with Zumba. It is truly a personal decision. While I have liked and enjoy Zumba, I chose to take a step up from the tradition Zumba certification classes and instructors. Here are some of the reasons that I have made this choice. CREATIVITY Being located in the Center of the Northeast Arts District I feel that there is a need for creativity, improvisation, and talent and provide that opportunity here at SHIFT Fitness and … Read More

I Gave Away A Smile and Find Out That My Return Was Priceless

Some memories last forever. On this Valentine’s Day I smile and I recall that years ago when I was active in Mary Kay I had no Valentine in my life to receive a special something from. My response to that was to purchase 36 pink carnations. I preceded to attach my card and some samples to the pink carnations with ribbon. I suspected that I would never get a call back for my efforts but that did not matter. I passed out pink carnations with a smile one at a … Read More

What is education?  What counts? What Matters? As I am de-cluttering my life and cleaning up rooms, trying to decide what books are important at SHIFT, I thought I would only be looking at the many books from 2009 when I started my collegiate education.  I could not have been more wrong. As one fitness professional on the phone said last week “You and I have been in this business for over 20 years”. I quickly corrected her and indicated that it has been much shorter time for me.  It … Read More

What is the difference between a Certified Massage Therapist and a Clinical Massage Therapist? “It’s only a thought, and a thought can be changed. “ Louis L. Hay My Power Thought card for today was this. If shifts me back to when I first heard of Power Thought Cards. I picked this card out of 64 cards and it was indicated that whatever card I chose could very well be what I needed the most that day. I found this to be true. What is the value of Massage Therapy

Posted on

The Value of Massage Therapy It was February 14, 2003 when I woke up after 6 uninterrupted hours of sleep and wondered what was wrong. Could it be that a 60 minute massage session had induced a normal sleeping pattern that had eluded me for years? I woke up with feeling no pain or grogginess and wondered if this is what normal people felt. With my second session since being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia I recieved the same benefits and more. This started my journey into massage therapy and its healing … Read More

Time to Fly

This past Saturday, June 30th was the “Time to Fly” 1K, 5K, 10K event day. This helps to raise money for Children’s Cancer Research Fund. I admit that I just wanted to participate in a 5K this weekend. That changed. While waiting for the event to start, a family asked my husband to take a picture of their team. I had previously been watching their cute baby crawling, reaching and watching everything around him. When they picked him up, his t-shirt was differant than the rest. His said “Cancer sucks” … Read More
